Happy Easter

Happy Easter to those who are celebrating it today and I hope are enjoying your chocolate easter eggs!
So why is Easter Celebrated?
Easter is a Christian festival celebrated after 40 days of lent. Lent is a 40-day period of fasting, prayer and sacrifice—and ends with Holy Week, which includes Holy Thursday (the celebration of Jesus’ Last Supper with his 12 Apostles), Good Friday (on which Jesus’ crucifixion is observed), and Easter Sunday.
So why the Easter Eggs?
It’s believed that eggs represented fertility and birth in certain pagan traditions that pre-date Christianity. The hollow easter egg represented the tomb of Jesus and the chocolate is to celebrate the end of a 40 day fast (lent). Easter egg hunts and egg rolling are two popular egg-related traditions. An egg hunt involves hiding eggs outside for children to run around and find on Easter morning. Eggs are rolled as a symbolic re-enactment of the rolling away of the stone from Christ’s tomb.
